Coming home / Leaving home

Coming home / Leaving home

The "coming home" and "leaving home" functions represent a major enhancement in convenience and comfort. When the occupants leave the vehicle, the dipped-beam headlights, the courtesy lights in the exterior mirror housings, the tail lights and number-plate lighting initially remain on and are switched off automatically after a delay period (coming home). The same lights are switched on when the driver unlocks the doors with the remote control (leaving home). In this way the car’s own outside lights help to illuminate the path to the door of the house whenever you arrive or set off in the dark. In the Volkswagen Phaeton, the time delay before the lights are switched off can be adjusted on the infotainment system or in the Passat on the multifunction display – for instance, to match the time it takes to walk between your vehicle and your house. The "coming home" function is fitted in other Volkswagen models too, such as the Golf.
